India's computer for the commoner idea.  There are links to actual manufactures back in 2004, that was five years ago now!

Article about India's Simputer and Brazil's computadora popular

Minitel

Warchauer refers to the Minitel as a reason that France was slow to adopt the Internet. Here is a interesting blog entry that describes Minitel as France's precursor to the Internet and Web 2.0

Chapter 4:

Harlem Live

HarlemLive (p. 92) is one of the projects that Warschauer mentions in chapter 4 of his book an example of culturally relevant Digital Rescource.  (several of the other websites he mentions such as playing2win (p.92) and the brasilian website sampa.org (p. 87), seem to be under construction or "coming soon".

Otlob.com

This egyptian food ordering website is now primarly in arabic.  Warschauer uses it as an example of how English is the lingua franca of the internet-- maybe less and less so in 2009. (p. 101)

Leoki (Hawaiian Language Rescources)

Here is the website where users can download a hawaiian language telecomunications system.  This is an effort to support immersion programs and revitilization of the olelo hawai'i (hawaiian language). (p.105-7)

Chapter 5:

Think Quest: Website that has a web design competition for children.  This is mentioned as something that egyptian students take part of as they participate in "21st Century Learning Clubs".   Warschauer describes these as a positive alternative to the poorly managed and implemented technology "programs" of the ministry of education.
